Hill Harper Net Worth $1.5 Million
Hill Harper is a son of Marilyn Hill, an anesthesiologist, and Harry Harper, a psychiatrist. Hill started acting from the age of seven. After matriculating from Bella Vista High School in 1984, Harper studied at Brown University and graduated magna cum laude in 1992, and four years later, Hill graduated with a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. In the freshmen year at Harvard, he met Barack Obama on the basketball court, and ever since then the two have been a close friends.
Despite being very successful at college, Harper decided to try acting and moved to Los Angeles. His first role was on a television in 1993, but his debut in a feature film came in Spike Lee’s “Get on the Bus” in 1996. Lee liked Hill’s talent and gave him another role two years later in “He Got Game”, starring Denzel Washington. Through the 1990s, he also appeared in such productions as “Married with Children” (1993-1994), “Beloved” (1998) with Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover in lead roles, and “Slaves Of Hollywood” (1999), among many others. These early roles added some money to his wealth, but he would start to earn even more in the years to come.
With the beginning of the 2000s, his career reached a whole new level, as he began to feature in lead roles in such films as “The Skulls” (2000) with Paul Walker and Joshua Jackson, “Higher End” (2001), and “Love, Sex and Eating the Bones” (2003).
After featuring in both independent and mainstream films, in 2004 Hill Harper was cast ina role in the reputable CBS’s TV show “CSI: NY”. Like other CSI series from the franchise, this one was a hit in both the American and international market, and Harper’s role of coroner-turned-crime scene investigator was his biggest and best so far. The show ended in 2013, but Hill won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for three years in a row (2008-2010), and the show earned him a big chunk of money during nine seasons of broadcasting.
To speak further of his accomplishments, Harper featured in “For Colored Girls” (2010) with Janet Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg, “1982” (2013), and most recently in the role of Special Agent Spelman Boyle in the TV crime drama series “Limitless” (2015-2016), and he will also appear in the films “Destined” (2016), and “Shadow Hill”, which is scheduled for release in 2017.
Along with acting career, the multi-talented artist has written several books as well. His debut “Letters to a Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny”, was published in 2006, followed by five more publications including “The Conversation: How (Black) Men and Women Can Build Loving, Trusting Relationships.” in 2010, and “The Wiley Boys” in 2011. Harper’s “Letters to an Incarcerated Brother: Encouragement, Hope, and Healing for Inmates and Their Loved Ones” was nominated for a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work – Non-Fiction in 2014. These releases have added substantial amounts to his net worth.
Hill Harper openly supported President Barack Obama and participated in a music video “Yes We Can” in 2008. He is a member of the Obama for America National Finance Committee. Harper was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2011, but the treatment was successful, and he was cured. He has been in a romantic relationship with Chloe Flower since 2012.
