Lauren Boebert defends husband in divorce with Bud Light joke

Rep. Lauren Boebert has come to the defense of her estranged husband of 18 years, insisting that he “doesn’t drink Bud Light” in a nod to the ongoing controversy surrounding the domestic beer brand.
The conservative GOP firebrand from Colorado spoke out on Twitter Wednesday after an affidavit alleged Jayson Boebert was “drinking a tall glass of beer, and cleaning a gun” when he was served with divorce papers last month.
“The stories reported about the process server … are a complete lie. Jayson doesn’t sit around cleaning guns and he certainly doesn’t drink beer out of a glass, just as much as he doesn’t drink Bud Light,” Lauren wrote on Twitter Wednesday.
Jayson was said to have been “extremely angry” when served with the papers last month, yelling profanities at the court official before shutting the door and letting his dogs out.
The server’s statement made no mention of Bud Light, which has seen five straight weeks of plummeting sales amid backlash over its partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
“Our own home security footage shows he didn’t ‘sick dogs’ on the process server. The dogs were outside when the server pulled up, they never showed aggression toward him, nor did he appear afraid of them,” the congresswoman wrote.
“Our divorce is a private matter, but the misrepresentations must be addressed. Jayson deserves his privacy, not slanderous stories.”
Jayson also denied that he was drinking and cleaning a gun in a statement to the Daily Beast, which first reported on the affidavit. He also claimed his dogs posed “no threat” to the process server.
“I did not know what I was being served for or if it was some crazy left-wing person coming to my house again. I was not drinking and I was not cleaning any gun,” he told the outlet.
Lauren, 36, met Jayson, 42 when she was 16 and working at a Burger King in 2003, according to her 2022 memoir.
She dropped out of high school after becoming pregnant with the first of their four sons, and later earned a GED.
In 2004, both Lauren and Jayson were arrested on separate occasions for domestic violence. Last summer, a neighbor of the couple accused Jayson of trying to run over their mailbox — an accusation that Lauren said was without merit in her missive.
The Republican announced Tuesday that she had filed for divorce the previous month, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
